The JL Proline
traps are constructed of American-made 12-gauge galvanized
wire mesh as illustrated on the web page:
http://donmac.org/JLProline.htm
The vinyl coating is fuse-bonded to the galvanized wire.
This virtually eliminates cracking and separation.
The JL Proline 2614BC Crab Trap is the most popular model.
The 2210 and 3014BC
models are available by special order.
The
2614BC Model includes the following features:
The trap is 26
inches by 26 inches and is 9-3/8 inches high.
The low profile design minimizes wasted space while providing storage
for the mainline rope and floats.
The trap has two 14-inch wide door openings that allow larger crab easier
entry.
The trap includes a 14 inch by 5-3/8 inch by 2 inch bait cage constructed
with
1x2 inch galvanized mesh.
This larger mesh allows crab to feed slowly on the bait. The slow
feeding
activity attracts more crab to the trap.
The trap features a new, larger 10 inch by 20 inch lid opening for
improved
access when baiting the trap and removing crab.
The trap is fastened with stainless steel hog rings.
The one-way gates inside the 14-inch door openings are engineered to
prevent a hang-up in the open position.
The 2X4 inch wire mesh used to construct the trap reduces the impact on
the
resource by allowing more undersize crab to escape without being
handled.
The trap includes a bridle rope for easy rigging.
** The JL Proline traps are currently legal for sport crabbing in Oregon
waters.
Under current regulations, use of these crab traps in California and
Washington
requires a minor modification.
Check the current regulations for applicable requirements. **
