Tommy Cox, although he would be the last to either recognize
it or admit it,
has come to represent the best of what the Submarine Force was, is, and,
hopefully, ever shall be. Through his wonderful songs he has become the
well-deserved symbol of the American Submarine Sailor. First, he was a
true dues payer. He rode U.S. Submarines and participated in some of the most
perilous missions and undertakings of the Cold War... and, second, he's one
talented songwriter and singer. But mainly because he belongs to us, the lads
who plowed deep saltwater in service to the United States.
-- Dex Armstrong. After Battery Rat
Tom, you were a super shipmate, a hell of a spook, and a fine submariner.
I really appreciated being at sea with you. You are a great songwriter.
You sing your work with passion.
A TRUE PROFESSIONAL IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD!
