New York Times July 9, 2004 "With Bush On 9/11" To the Editor: Re "Moore's Public Service," by Paul Krugman (column, July 2): I am not sure where Paul Krugman and Michael Moore were on 9/11, but I was with President Bush for almost two hours. As commander of the 8th Air Force, I was present when President Bush stopped to deliver a message to the American people at Barksdale Air Force Base. Throughout my career, I have seen the best and the worst of people under extreme pressure. President Bush arrived at Barksdale deeply saddened and obviously concerned, but he was a man on a mission, courageous and decisive. He was totally in command. I have kept relatively quiet about my experiences with the president on 9/11, but I cannot sit back and allow Hollywood and the media to rewrite history. I was there, and I consider myself a good judge of leadership. We were fortunate that President Bush was our commander in chief on 9/11. Lieutenant General Thomas J. Keck USAF (Ret) Tucson, July 5, 2004 Robin Williams for UN Ambassador Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan . What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message. Robin William’s plan... I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here’s mine; 1.) The US will apologize to the world for our “interference” in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic and the rest of those ‘good ole boys,’ We will never “interfere” again. 2.) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don’t want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one sneaking through holes in the fence. 3.) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We’ll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are. France would welcome them. 4.) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would be allowed in. If you don’t like it there, change it yourself and don’t hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don’t need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers. 5.) No foreign “students” over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don’t attend classes, they get a “D” and it’s back home baby. 6.) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while. 7.) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don’t like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.) 8.) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not “interfere.” They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything. 9.) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don’t need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens. 10.) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us “Ugly Americans” any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH.....learn it...or LEAVE... “The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying ‘Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.’ She’s got a baseball bat and she’s yelling, ‘You want a piece of me?’” Confoozing IT IS ALL SO CONFUSING! Here's a set of thoughts comparing the overseas messes of the past decade or so and placing them in a somewhat clearer light. I'm trying to get all this political stuff straightened out in my head so I'll know how to vote come November. Let me see, do I have this straight? Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good . . . Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad . . Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good . . You have to read the catalogue of events in this brief piece. Then, ask yourself how anyone can take the position that all we have to do is bring our troops home from Iraq, sit back, re-set the snooze alarm, go back to sleep, and no one will ever bother us again. In case you missed it, World War III began in November 1979...that alarm has been ringing for years. U.S. Navy Captain Ouimette is the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Here is a copy of the speech he gave last month. It is an accurate account of why we are in so much trouble today and why this action is so necessary. AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP! That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then. It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 23 years. America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism. America's military had been decimated and downsized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start. Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued. In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut. When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more. Then just six short months later a large truck heavily laden down with over 500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps >headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more. Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber. The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept. Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid. Then in August a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked. Fifty-nine days later a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed. The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259. Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war. The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder. The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America. In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again. Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women. A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively. They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep. The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep. And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America. How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep. In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high official in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979. The President is right on when he says we are engaged in a war. I think we have been in a war for the past 23 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough. America needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said "...it seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world. This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election year; this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom of our children in years to come. Please forward this to as many people as you can especially to the young people and all those who dozed off in history class and who seem so quick to protest such a necessary military action. Time to wake up!! Be sure to scroll down and see what the democratic presidential candidate had to say on October 9, 2002. How quickly they forget!! INTERESTING!! Where Bush Got His Marching Orders?? "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 "Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 "He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998 "We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry ( D - MA), and others Oct. 9, 1998 "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 "Hussein has . chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 "There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001 "We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 "He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do." - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002 "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapon stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation .. And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 SO NOW THESE SAME DEMOCRATS SAY PRESIDENT BUSH LIED, THAT THERE NEVER WERE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, AND THAT HE TOOK US TO WAR UNECESSARILY ! TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT THE PRESIDENT LEADING US TO WAR. The networks won't do it. It's up to us to get the word out. GOD BLESS AMERICA and SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!! " A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at..... how many want in.......and how many want to get out!" Tony Blair Congressman Steve King Iowa, Fifth District Sraight Up-The Black and White Truth June 17, 2004 I traveled to Iraq last weekend to support our troops and get a true perspective of the ground situation in the War on Terror. After returning from my second trip to that region since the start of the war, I can assure you that you're not getting a balanced perspective from the media. I was briefed by our top officers, but I relied on individual Iowans in private to give it to me straight. In and around Baghdad and Fallujah, I met with over 25 soldiers from Iowa, and I asked them what they needed from me to complete their mission effectively. Chief Warrant Officer Alan Ruzicka of Cedar Rapids answered, "U.S. public support is the most important weapon our troops can have. We'll win this faster if we can get the media to follow the traditional Iowa way-straight up-the black and white truth." And that's really what it comes down to, isn't it? While our soldiers are in the Middle East fighting the World Wide War on Terror, the liberal press corps is acting as the enemy within. We are fighting a news media that is determined to tear down public support for the war by selectively reporting the facts and editorializing on their selections. Captain Ken Richards of Des Moines told me at the same meeting, "The U.S. news media is the only ally of Al Quaida and the insurgents." The media is determined to defeat President Bush, even at the cost of losing the war in Iraq and consequently the war on terror. We can lose this war, and if it is lost, it will be lost at home, not in Iraq. All it takes is for the American public to lose faith in our leaders and our cause. We have given the Iraqi people the gift of freedom, a gift Americans take for granted everyday, and mark my words, the majority of the people of Iraq are thankful for it. Master Sergeant Dwight Anderson of Perry told me, "The Iraqis appreciate us being here, the young ones especially." And that's not only because we rid them of a murderous dictator, but because it is the coalition forces who are helping them build a life. Our soldiers are at risk day and night, but they are rebuilding schools, providing medical treatment and vaccines, teaching the Iraqis to plant and harvest crops, and even just playing a game of soccer with the Iraqi children. American soldiers are respected. General Petraeus relayed this story: "After the 101st left Mosul, they named a street after them. The street's name is '101st Airborne Divission (air assault) street'." John Edwards, is not a "Southern moderate"! Sen. Edwards voted against his Senate partner Jesse Helms when he suggested, schools should be denied federal funds if they kicked the Boy Scouts out of meeting at a school, since they wouldn't allow gay scoutmasters. The gay lobby has a powerful hold on this Southerner. Sen. Edwards voted in favor of federal funds for needle-exchange programs. John couldn't just say no to drug addicts. On abortion, try to find where Sen. Edwards feels there should be any limit to the abortion lobby's demands. He's rated 100 percent by the NARAL crowd. Partial-birth abortion? He's a solid vote for that. Punishing criminals for killing unborn children without a woman's right to choose? He's against that. That's not murder, since it's not really a baby, apparently. (Wouldn't the litigator in Edwards prefer two victims?) He voted in favor of giving taxpayer money to schools so they could distribute "morning after" abortion pills to our kids. If it hadn't passed by a voice vote in the Senate, Edwards probably would have voted against protecting infants who are born alive in a (failed) abortion procedure. Can John Edwards be any more extreme than this? Or take Iraq and national security. Where is the difference between Edwards and Kerry; where is the ticket "balanced"? Both senators voted to authorize the war in 2002, and then flip-flopped to deny $87 billion in additional funds for the troops, once they authorized sending them to fight. Edwards voted exactly like his liberal Massachusetts running mate. Maybe he's a fiscal conservative to balance out Kerry's tax-loving instincts? Think again. His National Taxpayer Union and Citizens Against Government Waste scores are dreadful, with percentages in the ‘teens. He voted against every Bush tax cut. So wouldn't any journalist objectively looking at fact say Edwards is as "hard left" as Cheney was "hard right"? Yes. Instead, the use of the L-word to describe Edwards was always attributed as a desperately negative Republican attack line, not the truth. ABC's Kate Snow said Bush and Cheney were cordial to Edwards, and then "it went downhill from there," as the GOP "tore into" Edwards by accurately stating he's a liberal. The Kerry-Edwards substance-free honeymoon on the networks, shows they don't believe in balance or fairness. They'll do anything but wear donkey ears on camera to help the Democrats. Are you surprised that John Kerry's leading moral spokesmen are Al Gore, Bill Clinton, and Ted Kennedy? As Teddy the Tippler seems to have taken the point for asaults on President's Bush's honesty, here's a bit of history I'm sure he'd like very much to rewrite. GO TO THE SEARCH ENGINES "GOOGLE OR YAHOO" AND TYPE IN TED KENNEDY, MARY JO KOPECHNE , AND CHAPPAQUIDICK ISLAND. YOU ARE GOING TO GET A VALID EDUCATION ABOUT THE EXALTED SENATOR FROM THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS. HE HAS GOT THE NERVE TO QUESTION PRESIDENT BUSH'S INTEGRITY! "Hello, My name is Mary Jo Kopechne: I would have been 65 years of age this year. Read about me and my killer below." When Sen. Ted Kennedy was just another Democrat bloating on Capitol Hill on behalf of liberal causes, it was perhaps excusable to ignore his deplorable past. But now that he has become Sen. John Kerry's leading campaign attack dog--positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity--the days for such indulgence are now over. It's time for the GOP to stand up and remind America why Sen. Kerry's chief spokesman had to abandon his own presidential bid in 1980; time to say the name, Mary Jo Kopechne, out loud. As is often the case, Republicans have deluded themselves into thinking that most Americans already know the story of how Kennedy, the "Conscience of the Democratic Party," left Miss Kopechne to die in the waters underneath the Edgartown Bridge in July 1969, after a night of drinking and partying with the young blonde campaign worker. But most Americans under 40 have never heard this story or details of how Kennedy swam to safety and then tried to get his cousin, Joe Garghan, to lie by saying that he, Joe Garghan, had been behind the wheel when the car careened off the bridge and into the water. Younger voters don't know how Miss Kopechne, trapped inside Kennedy's Oldsmobile, gasped for air until she finally died, while the Democrats' leading critic of the Iraq war rushed back to his compound to formulate the best alibi he could think of. Neither does this generation know how Kennedy was expelled from Harvard 15 years earlier for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests. As today's younger voters listen to the Democrats' "Liberal Lion" accuse President Bush of "telling lie after lie after lie" to get America into a war with Iraq . It's time for Republicans to state unabashedly that they will no longer go along with the gag when it comes to Uncle Ted's rants about deception and moral turpitude inside the Bush White House. And if the Republicans don’t, let's do it ourselves by passing this forgotten disgrace around the Internet to wake up memories of what a fraud and fake Teddy really is. The Democratic Party, not to mention Sen. John Kerry, should be ashamed to have that national disgrace from Massachusetts as their spokesman. And the GOP needs to say so out loud. I remember all of this and maybe some of you do, too. Please pause a moment, reflect back, and take the following Multiple Choice test.... no need to keep score. The events are actual cuts from past history. They actually happened! Do you remember? 1. In 1972 at the Munich Olympics, athletes were kidnapped and massacred by: a. Olga Corbitt b. Sitting Bull c. So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year-old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning former Governors, and leave Muslim males between the ages 17 & 40 alone because of profiling. Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys, along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves if they have any such sense. As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it, "Stupid" Guess who ............ Did I mention that this meeting, and my other anti-American activities, also put me in violation of the Constitution's Article three, Section three, which defines treason as "giving aid and comfort" to the enemy in time of warfare. Consequently, I stand subject to the Constitution's Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3, which states, "No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President... having previously taken an oath...to support the Constitution of the United States, [who has] engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof." JOHN KERRY OF THE HEINZ FAMILY Do you find it strange that Kerry's wife is never with him? Do you find it strange that you never hear any thing about her? This may be why. As time goes on, we're just getting to know the possible future First Lady of the United States of America, and it is quite interesting. You'll be hearing even more about Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic front-runner. She has quite a track record, especially when it comes to the causes she donates to. One of her favorite charities is the Tides Foundation. What is that, you ask? This foundation sends hundreds of millions of dollars to groups that protested the invasion of Iraq; that demands open U.S. borders; and provides legal defense for suspected terrorists. Among other groups supported by Kerry's wife: Ramsey Clark's international Action Center. This is the same Ramsey Clark that offered to defend Saddam Hussein. Another group seeks to ease restrictions on immigration from terrorist nations. Another group has links to the terrorist group Hamas. And on and on. American jobs are OUTSOURCED by John F. Kerry and his wife Teresa Heinz-Kerry! We need to ask: Why not manufacture in America and ship finished products overseas? How many American workers are in these Heinz overseas factories? I don't think John Kerry's Vietnam service is going to make people look the other way on this stuff. Pass this on! NOTE: All of the above facts are available in local libraries in most communities throughout the country. Let's hope people get out and look up the facts for themselves.
